RBPD Needs Volunteer Advocates For Victims Of Domestic Violence

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Redondo Beach Police Department is accepting applications for volunteers to serve as domestic violence victim advocates now through September 15. Candidates that are interested in becoming an on-call volunteer victim advocate must be open and empathetic and commit to volunteer with the program for a minimum of 12 months. Other requirements include:

• Must be able to pass a background check
• Complete 40 hours of in-house training (over the course of several weeks during the evening)
• Possess a car, valid California Driver License, and car insurance
• Volunteer to be on-call a minimum of four 12 hour shifts a month, including weekends and evenings
• Attend a minimum of 8 monthly training meetings per year
• Live within 10-15 minutes of Redondo Beach
• Participate in local community events
