Redondo Beach Crime Blotter: Purse Snatcher And 2 Stolen E-Bikes
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from April 7 to 13.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Robbery
- April 5, 2023 – 6:25 p.m. to 7:36 p.m. – 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard – A woman was arrested after RBPD said she stole a woman's purse inside a store. According to police, the suspect approached another woman and pulled her purse by the strap, causing it to break and the things inside to fall out. The suspect then reportedly ran from the store with the purse but was apprehended by police and the property was recovered.
Residential Burglary
- April 5, 2023 - 11:25 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.- 200 block of Catalina Avenue - A Louis Vuitton wallet, cash, credit cards, driver's license, check and a garage door opener were stolen from a possibly unlocked car inside an apartment garage according to RBPD.
- April 3-7, 2023 - 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. - 600 block of Esplanade - An electric bicycle was reported stolen from the parking garage of an apartment complex according to RBPD. Police said they found a bike lock that was cut in the garage.
- April 3-9, 2023 - 6 p.m. to 11 a.m. - 2300 block of Grant Avenue - Two water heaters and 20 feet of copper piping were reported stolen from the garage of a home according to RBPD. The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8-inch white man with brown and gray hair.
- April 3-4, 2023 - 8:30 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. - 800 block of Anita Street - A backpack, Hemmingway e-bike and a surveillance camera were taken from the backyard of a home according to RBPD. Police said the suspect got in through a rear gate and then went inside the home's garage. No information was available about the suspect.
Vehicle Burglary
- April 4-7, 2023 - 1:30 p.m. to 7:35 p.m. - 3400 block of North Broadway - Cash and an Apple AirPods case with one AirPod inside were reportedly taken from a black 2021 Ford Explorer after the rear passenger side window was smashed according to RBPD.
- April 5, 2023 - 7:25 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - 1600 block of Aviation Boulevard - Credit cards were reported stolen from a silver 2015 Subaru Outback after the front passenger side window was smashed according to RBPD.
- April 4-5, 2023 - 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. - 400 block of North Gertruda Avenue - According to RBPD, the rear passenger side window of a white Subaru Outback was smashed, but nothing was stolen from the car. The suspect was described as a woman in her 20s police said.
Taken From Vehicle
- April 2-3, 2023 - 2:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. - 1900 block of Belmont Lane - A GomPro battery charger, Wifi hotspot, 5GB hard drive, Dell Inspiration laptop and three pairs of sunglasses were reported stolen from an unlocked gray 2019 Audi A5 according to RBPD.
- April 7-13, 2023 - Throughout the week, RBPD said two catalytic converters were reported to be taken from various vehicles in various locations in the city.
Stolen Vehicles
- March 26-April 7, 2023 - 9 a.m. to 9 a.m. - 300 block of The Village - A silver 2019 Mercedes Benz 250 GLA was reported stolen, but was later recovered in Bakersfield by the California Highway Patrol.
- April 5-11, 2023 - 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. - Avenue A and South Catalina Avenue - A black 2000 Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen according to RBPD. The license plate is 8MEZ732.
- April 4-5, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. - 400 block of North Pacific Coast Highway - A white 2019 Ford F150 was reported stolen but was later recovered by RBPD.
