Redondo Beach Crime Blotter: Storage Unit Robberies, Shoplifting
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Feb. 10 to 16.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Shoplifting
- Feb. 9, 2023 – 2:20 p.m. to 3:46 p.m. – 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard – According to RBPD, a woman spit at an employee after she was told to pay for an item that she allegedly grabbed from a store. The woman left, but the employee grabbed the item police said. The woman fled following the incident according to police.
Street Robbery
- Feb. 10, 2023 - 7:40 p.m. - 21800 block of South Catalina Ave. - A victim was reportedly attacked and threatened while walking on the sidewalk by somebody they knew, according to RBPD. The victim's necklace was stolen police said.
Commercial Burglary
- Feb. 10-11, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.- 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - A suspect allegedly forced entry into a facility via a gate that was pried off its tracts and forced open to get to a black 2003 Hummer H2, according to RBPD. The suspect then reportedly broke into the car on the driver's side, punched the ignition and left the vehicle in the parking lot police said.
- Feb. 10, 2023 - 5:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - Three suspects reportedly broke into a storage unit by damaging the roll-up gate, RBPD officers said it is unknown what was stolen from the storage unit. One suspect was described as a Hispanic male about 40 years old and another was described as a white male about 20 to 30 years old. There was no description available for the third suspect. Police said the three people were driving a black 2007 BMW 328i.
- Feb. 8-9, 2023 - 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - A utility trailer and Taski Auto scrubber were stolen from a storage unit according to RBPD.
- Feb. 8-9, 2023 - 7:05 p.m. to 5:59 a.m. - 100 block of Space Park Drive - Many electronic devices, a social security card, a birth certificate, a model airplane, clothing and an American flag were stolen after a suspect broke into a secured trailer through a window after the screen was removed, RBPD said.
- Feb. 7, 2023 - 12:15 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. - 3700 block of Inglewood Avenue - A locked storage unit was allegedly broken into and two Milwaukee sawzalls, two Milwaukee handsaws and other tools were stolen, police said.
- Feb. 3-6, 2023 - 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to Monday - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - A storage area was allegedly broken into where multiple things were reported stolen according to police, including a Trek mountain bike, a laptop computer screen and docking station, a 500-foot spool of copper wire, a Ghost hybrid mountain bike, a Thule 4 bicycle rack, and LG flat screen TV, six surfboards, a Titleist golf club driver, a launch monitor and a Calloway golf club driver.
Residential Burglary
- Feb. 13, 2023 - 7:26 p.m. to 8:18 p.m.- 2006 Grant Avenue - RBPD arrested a Black man who allegedly knocked on somebody's door and looked in the window, but did not enter the residence.
- Feb. 9, 2023 - 12:38 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. - 400 block of North Broadway - A High Sierra backpack, school textbooks and a leather briefcase were reported stolen after police said two unknown men broke into a residence via the side door. Police saidthe suspects might have usedd a knife to pry the door open. The only description of the suspects that was given was that they had thin builds.
Vehicle Burglary
- Feb. 13, 2023 - 6:10 p.m. to 6:27 p.m. - 2300 block of Artesia Boulevard - Two notebooks, a ROG laptop, a container of chloride powder, four phone/computer chargers, a vehicle registration, a Chinese passport and a Nike Elite Pro Basketball backpack were reportedly stolen from a black 2017 Mercedes Benz C-Class, RBPD said.
- Feb. 10-12, 2023 - 6 p.m. to 11:23 a.m. - 300 block of South Harbor Drive and George Freeth Way - Five credit cards were allegedly stolen from a black 2017 Honda Accord after a suspect reportedly punched the door lock to enter the vehicle, RBPD said.
- Feb. 6-7, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. - 400 block of South Broadway - A canvas bag and CDs were stolen from a silver 2007 Mercedes Benz C-Class after the passenger side window was reportedly smashed, police said.
- Feb. 6, 2023 - 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. - 500 block of North Prospect Avenue - An empty Bank of America bag was stolen from a silver 2019 Toyota Sienna after the passenger side window was smashed, RBPD said.
Taken From Vehicle
- Feb. 10-13, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 10:10 a.m. - 300 block of South Prospect Avenue -The front and rear license plates of a 2016 Honda Civic were reported stolen according to RBPD.
- Feb. 9, 2023 - 9:10 a.m. - North Pacific Coast Highways and North Catalina Avenue - The front and rear license plates were stolen from a white 2017 Hyundai Tucson according to RBPD. the property was stolen at an unknown date and time police said.
Stolen Vehicles
- Feb. 10-11, 2023 - 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - A black 2003 Hummer H2 was left in a parking lot after someone allegedly damaged the car's door handle keyhole and punched the ignition, RBPD said.
- Feb. 8-9, 2023 - 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue - A black and aluminum 2016 Wells Cargo Utility Trailer was reported stolen. The trailer's license plate is 55829AA RBPD said.
- Feb. 1o-13, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 10:10 a.m. - 900 North Pacific Coast Highway - According to RBPD, officers witnessed suspects attempting to break into a gray 2019 Dodge Challenger. The suspects reportedly fled when they realized officers were watching them RBPD said. Police said the suspects fled in a white Dodge Durango with a black racing stripe and no license plates.
