Redondo Beach Crime Blotter: 100 Vinyl Records, Sommelier Tools Stolen

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Feb. 17 to 23.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Shoplifting

  • Feb. 19, 2023 – 12:20 p.m. to 12:23 p.m. – 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard – A Tory Burch handbag was reportedly stolen from an open business. According to RBPD, an adult Black man used pliers to remove the bag from the rack and ran toward the exit. On the way, an employee attempted to grab the man but was pushed and fell to her knees before the man fled according to police.

Commercial Burglary

  • Feb. 6-29, 2023 - Unknown time to 2:48 p.m.- 3700 block of Inglewood Avenue - A Techie record player, KEF speaker and 100 vinyl records were reported stolen from a locked storage unit, RBPD said.
  • Feb. 14-19, 2023 - Unknown time - 3700 block of Inglewood Avenue - A checkbook, W2 form and 40-inch Samsung TV were reported stolen from a locked storage unit, RBPD said it was possible that the suspect had a key to enter the unit.
  • Feb. 20, 2023 - 6:04 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. - 1400 block of South Pacific Coast Highway - A woman and man reportedly stole a safe, cash box, cash and business check from a closed business. Police said they entered from the rear entrance. No descriptions were given for the suspects.
  • Feb. 17-19, 2023 - 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 100 block of Aviation Boulevard - A white adult man reportedly broke into a closed business with the intent to take property, but RBPD said nothing was stolen from the business.

Residential Burglary

  • Feb. 21-23, 2023 - 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.- 300 block of The Village - An unsecured Black and Tan E-bike was reported stolen from the underground parking garage of an apartment complex, officers said.
  • Feb. 18, 2023 - 1:40 a.m. - 2500 block of Alvord Lane - According to RBPD, a Hispanic adult man attempted to break into a locked home via a glass door on the side of the house, but the resident yelled at him so he fled.
  • Feb. 13-14, 2023 - 4 p.m. to 11 a.m. - 2000 block of Farrell Avenue - A Bonobos suit jacket, sommelier pin, four pairs of sunglass, microfiber towels and miscellaneous wine accessories were reported stolen from a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, RBPD said. The officer said it was possible that the car was unlocked in an underground parking garage of an apartment complex. The lock on a storage cabinet was also cut, police reported.

Vehicle Burglary

  • Feb. 18, 2023 - 11:10 p.m. to 4:17 a.m. - 3000 block of Dow Avenue - An eyeglass case, cash and a knife were reported stolen from a locked gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Officers said the lock mechanism on the passenger door was punched and the steering column was broken. RBPD said there are two suspects, but the only details about them available were that they drove a gray Subaru Hatchback and one suspect may have been a Hispanic man.

Taken From Vehicle

  • Feb. 20-21, 2023 - 8:30 p.m. to 8:05 a.m. - 32600 block of Rockefeller Lane - Diesel gas was reported stolen from a black 2019 Chevrolet Silverado parked on the street, officers said.
  • Feb. 20-21, 2023 - 10:30 p.m. to 6:10 a.m.- 1300 block of Agate Street - The rear license plate from a white 2007 Ford Edge parked in the street was reported stolen, RBPD said.
  • Feb. 17-23, 2023 - Throughout the week, RBPD said 36 catalytic converters were reported to be taken from various vehicles in various locations in the city.

Stolen Vehicles

  • Feb. 23, 2023 - 12:20 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - According to RBPD, three suspects attempted to steal a blue 2011 Hyundai Elantra but were unsuccessful. The vehicle's lock mechanism was punched, the steering column was broken and wires were pulled out in an attempt to start the car. Officers said the suspects were possibly teenagers.
  • Feb. 14-17, 2023 - 7:40 p.m. to 11:35 a.m. - 1800 block of Grant Avenue - A blue 2020 Chevrolet Sonic was reported stolen by a white man but was recovered by RBPD on Feb. 19.
  • Feb. 17-18, 2023 - 8:20 p.m. to 4:20 a.m. - 2700 block of 190th Street- a white 2018 Kia Sportage was reported stolen but was recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department on Feb. 18.
  • Feb. 18, 2023 - 11:10 p.m. to 4:17 a.m. - 3000 block of Dow Avenue - Officers said the lock mechanism on the passenger door of a gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was punched and the steering column was broken, but the car was not stolen. RBPD said there are two suspects, but the only details about them available were that they drove a gray Subaru Hatchback and one suspect may have been a Hispanic man.
  • Feb. 11-16, 2023 - 6:41 a.m. to 8:36 a.m. - 2900 block of 182nd Street - A white 1993 Ford E-350 was reported stolen but was later recovered by the L.A. Sheriff's Office on Feb. 16.
