Redondo Beach Man Identified After Fatal Torrance Crash

The motorcyclist, who died after a collision with two vehicles Sunday in Torrance, was identified as a Redondo Beach resident.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – Authorities Monday released the name of a Redondo Beach motorcyclist who was killed in a crash involving two other vehicles in Torrance. Jeffrey Dorley, 48, was identified by the coroner's office after he died at the scene of the crash about 9:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Halison Street, according to Torrance police Lt. Jeremiah Hart.

Dorley was riding a 2006 Kawasaki that had been northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard when it collided with a 2002 Toyota Sequoia and a 2016 Toyota Prius, according to Hart, who said the initial investigation indicated the motorcyclist had attempted to pass between the two vehicles.

The motorcycle collided with the Sequoia, then the Prius, and the rider was ejected, Hart said. The 51-year-old woman driving the Sequoia and the 34-year-old man at the wheel of the Prius were uninjured, as were their passengers, Hart said. The crash closed northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard between Del Amo Boulevard and Talisman Street for about six hours.
