Redondo Man Dies After Crash Caused By Medical Emergency

A section of Sepulveda Boulevard in Torrance remained closed through the early morning hours Monday due to the crash, police said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — An 83-year-old Redondo Beach man died at a hospital after crashing his pickup truck into a power pole on Sepulveda Boulevard near Ocean Avenue shortly before noon on Sunday, said Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

A section of Sepulveda Boulevard in Torrance remained closed through the early morning hours Monday due to the fatal traffic crash, police said.

"It was discovered the driver ... suffered a medical emergency prior to veering off the road and colliding with the power-line pole," Harris said.

Sepulveda Boulevard was closed between Anza Avenue and Ocean Avenue until 3:30 a.m. Monday while crews worked to repair the power pole and lines, Harris said.
