Video: Residents Respond to Cuts in Beach Bathroom Hours

A county decision to reduce beach bathroom hours beginning May 1 is not sitting well with some residents, Patch learns.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors announced plans last week to reduce public restroom hours on the beach, starting May 1, due to budget constraints.

On that date, crews will begin to make their restroom cleaning rounds at 7 a.m. instead of earlier, as they used to do, with the result that some bathrooms won't open until 11 a.m.

Patch asked residents how they felt about the reduced hours.

"It's probably going to put a lot of stress on local restaurants," said Redondo Beach resident Jordan Smith.
