Former RBUSD Special Ed Teacher Arrested, Accused Of Having Child Porn

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A retired Redondo Beach Unified School District special education teacher was arrested last week on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse materials, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD officials said the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce received information about child pornography being uploaded to a social media platform from an unknown address in Los Angeles. Investigators later identified that the user who uploaded the materials was 67-year-old Leo Lanctot, the retired RBUSD teacher.

"On February 9, 2023, LAPD ICAC investigators served a search warrant at Lanctot’s residence in Los Angeles, where evidence was seized," LAPD officials said in a statement released on Friday.

Lanctot was arrested on charges of possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material, LAPD said.

The LAPD ICAC Taskforce believed there may be additional victims of Lanctot. Anyone who may have information about this case was urged to contact Detective Meares at 562-624-4027.
