Rat Scurries Through Long Beach Restaurant: WATCH

Tommy's Restaurant, where the incident occurred, questions the authenticity of the video.

LONG BEACH, CA – A popular Long Beach eatery will remain open for business despite video footage of a rat on the kitchen counter. County health officials, who inspected Original Tommy's Hamburgers after Estilo Juan Estrada posted the video to social media, said Thursday that the restaurant will stay open, according to KTLA.

Ironically, the rat was seen peering around the health inspection sign displayed on the counter before scurrying past chili containers. Estrada, who recorded the video through the window after a trip to a nearby 7-Eleven on Wednesday, said he will "never ever go eat" at the restaurant again, according to his Facebook post.

A health department official said that it could happen to "virtually" any restaurant, according to the KTLA report.

Tommy's Restaurant released a statement and said it takes great pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, noting that a professional pest control company comes out once a month for prevention purposes. It questioned the authenticity of the video.
