School Board Member Arlene Staich Recovering After Heart Attack
Staich is scheduled to step down next month. Her family says she is doing well.

Redondo Beach Unified School District Board of Education member Arlene Staich is recovering after bypass surgery Monday. Staich suffered a heart attack over the weekend.
Staich’s family said she is feeling well today and her prognosis is positive, Superintendent Steven Keller said in an email.
Staich has been a board of education member since 2003. She, along with Carl Clark, is term out and scheduled to give up her seat following the March 8 election.

Staich is a grandmother and former physics teacher at Mira Costa High School. She also has served on the Southern California Regional Occupational Center Board of Education since 2005.
Board member Todd Loewenstein said Staich has been a proponent of the sciences as well as a watchdog of expenses to the public during the modernization project throughout the district paid for by Measure C bond money.
