You still have time to do this today……..The Redondo Beach Police Department, the American Red Cross and U.S. Probation Office Central District of California, will host the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive today, Thursday, January 21 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Redondo Beach Police Station parking lot. The drive, which occurs during National Blood Donor Month, pits public safety and law enforcement against each other to see who can rally the most people to donate blood, according to the Red Cross. Participants will receive a BOB commemorative t-shirt, BOB Clippers Promo, LA Kings discounted ticket offer at STAPLES Center and Anaheim Ducks discounted ticket offer at Honda Center. Palos Verdes Performing Arts will present the Broadway comedy, The Nerd January 22 through January 31 at the Norris Theatre. Critics have called Larry Shue’s inventive, side-splitting farce one of the funniest plays ever written. The story centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect whose life is suddenly upended by an unexpected visit from a man he has never met, but who saved his life in the army. With lovable characters and unexpected twists at every turn, this laugh-out-loud comedy also delivers an inspiring moral message. Classical Crossroads’ The Interludes Concert Series presents the Amicus Duo and Sakura Cell Quintet on Saturday, January 23 at 3 p.m. at First Lutheran Church & School. The Amicus Duo, cellist Coleman Itzkoff and pianist Alin Melik-Adamyan, are winners of the 2015 Beverly Hills National Auditions. A unique and versatile cello quintet, Sakura is built on the artistry and virtuosity of its members: Jonathan Dormand (UK), Michael Kaufman (USA), Yoshika Masuda (Japan/Australia), Peter Myers (USA), and Sarah Rommel (USA). El Segundo Museum of Art hosts Family Day, Artist in Residence Open Studio and Art Talk on Sunday, January 24. Everyone is welcome to attend these three amazing programs in one day! So Young Park has been Artist in Residence at ESMoA from November 2015 to January 2016. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts. She now lives and works in Berlin, Germany. An Art Talk featuring Edward Goldman will take place from 3 p.m. to 5p.m. Join Edward Goldman, host of KCRW’s “Art Talk” and curator of Experience 19: TOUCH, for a lively discussion with notable LA artists featured in TOUCH.
