South Bay Weekend Guide September 29, 2016
What's Happening In The South Bay this Weekend?

So I had my annual physical this week. Since my last appointment, my doctor moved her practice to Hermosa Beach and it was my first visit to the new office. The space is nice – large, bright and modern with free, easy parking. While I was sitting in the waiting room, I noticed the photographs lining the walls, and as I was taken down the hall to the examination room, I saw several more. Every picture was taken by local photographer, Randy Ruby, and I was thrilled to see a local business supporting one of our local artists. Every now and then, I’ll walk into a shop or restaurant and see a piece or two displayed for sale, but other than John Post prints, public art projects, and more recently, Bo Bridges, I can’t recall seeing another local artist’s work featured so prominently. Considering how much talent we have here in the South Bay, this should be the norm, right? Wouldn’t it be great to walk into every shop, office and restaurant and see the work of South Bay artists on display? This is what ‘keeping it local’ is all about – one business supporting another – and making sure those greenbacks stay in our community!
