Surf's Up! Redondo Beach Police Join Surfers For Contest
The coveted "Golden Donut" Trophy will be presented to the winning team.

REDONDO BEACH, CA – The Redondo Beach Police Department is hosting a Surf Line Up contest on Saturday, May 5 to support Special Olympic Athletes, WoundedHeroes of America and the Redondo Beach Police Foundation.
The contest is open for all levels of surfers, and is based on a unique surf team format which includes everyone from first timers to professionals. This team combination and setting will use the ocean’s power and the community’s love of surfing to build relationships and unite, according to the RBPD press release.
The sponsors will be giving away surf prizes; all registered participants will receive a free T-shirt and lunch. There will be time for free surfing, friendly competition and awards, the press release said. Space is limited and registration closes on May 2. Surfers can register online at www.redondo.org/surfcontest or at your local surf shop.

The main focus of this event is to promote safety while building a positive relationship between local surfers and RBPD, the press release said. Partnerships with several local businesses and the Redondo Beach Police Foundation has allowed for RBPD to organize this outreach program.
