REDONDO BEACH, CA – A 35-year-old man was arrested in Torrance Tuesday when found driving a pickup truck that had been stolen a day earlier, less than a mile from where he was stopped, police announced. Officers on a routine patrol about 1:20 a.m. Monday in the area of Felbar Avenue and 187th Street made contact with the suspect, later identified as Torrance resident Jeremy Brown, who was behind the wheel of a 1995 Dodge pick-up displaying paper plates, according Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris.

"Officers determined the vehicle to be stolen upon querying one of the vehicle's license plates, which had been removed and concealed under the front seat cushion," Harris said. "Officers also recovered drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle, as well."

The truck had been reported stolen the previous day "within a one-mile radius" from where officers arrested Brown, Harris said.
