The graphic above shows the current Seaside Lagoon and public park boundary overlaid onto the CenterCal plan presented at the last City Council meeting.
The lagoon itself shrinks by 1/3. And the open area of the park is less than half its current size. CenterCal's plan paves over the current beach/open space with a road and adds 5 retail/restaurant shops on what used to be the beach area.
Seriously, does anyone think people will take their kids to the mall parking structure to use a dinky puddle open to the raw water in the harbor on a dinky beach with a road, shops, and three story parking structure looming right behind it?
Oh and the dinghy dock paid for by a Federal and state grants to support the new harbor moorings is gone. Where will the boaters from the new moorings come to shore? How will the state and feds feel about our wasting their grant?
As you analyze the plan, it is obvious. This plan makes any water use secondary to mall shoppers. Our City Council and staff are selling out our waterfront for a mall. It appears only resident action will stop this travesty.
