TORRANCE, CA -- Police took a third man into custody Sunday evening in a Torrance neighborhood after he and two other suspects tried to steal a car but fled after they were spotted by police.

The report that three suspects were attempting to steal a vehicle outside a store was called in just before 6 p.m., Torrance Lt. David Moreno said.

"One of our units spotted the men and they fled the scene in a getaway car," Moreno said. "That's when a short pursuit began which ended near 185th Street and Ermanita Avenue, when they crashed their getaway car."
