U.S. News Recognizes Redondo Union

Redondo Union High School earns a silver medal from U.S. News & World Report.

Redondo Union High School is among the best high schools in the country, according to rankings released Tuesday. 

With a national ranking of 756 and a state ranking of 146, Redondo Union was one of 1,790 schools nationwide awarded a silver medal by U.S. News & World Report in its 2013 list of the nation's best public high schools.

Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach ranked 417th nationally and 81st in the state. As part of the top 500 schools, it received a gold medal.

Redondo Shores High School—the local continuation school—was not ranked.

The rankings were calculated by looking at student performance on standardized tests, evaluating how well schools educated black, Hispanic and poor students, and by how effectively they prepared graduates for college.
