Video: Weekend Fishing Update

The summer fishing season is really coming together, with anglers catching sea bass, sand bass, barracuda and even some albacore.

The summer fishing season is really coming together across Southern California with tuna, white sea bass, barracuda, sand and calico bass all getting in the picture.

There has been some very good bluefin tuna fishing along with some albacore a few hundred miles from San Diego. Fishing enthusiasts hope these tuna schools will move closer to San Diego and kick the season off.

Twilight sand-bass fishing has also been getting better, with some boats catching their 10-fish limits.

There has been excellent white sea bass fishing at Catalina Island, as well as just off the Huntington Flats. Most boats had limited out on white sea bass by early Saturday morning at Catalina.

Private boaters have been fishing near giant schools of bait in 40 feet of water and catching some sea bass weighing more than 50 pounds just off the Huntington Pier.

Daniel Ruiz from Orange was on the Redondo Special, which is based in Redondo Beach, and caught a nice 10 pound lingcod as the Santa Monica Bay continues to provide good rockfishing, too.
