Video: Weekend Fishing Update

Redondo Beach anglers score giant white sea bass; a fisherman on the Redondo Special catches its first halibut of 2011.

Tremendous white sea bass fishing in the Santa Monica Bay broke open over the weekend when the Hi Liner and its lucky 10 passengers landed 30 white sea bass weighing up to 50 pounds.

Private boaters also got into some frenzied action just off the Beach Cities. The first halibut of 2011 on the Redondo Special was caught off Palos Verdes along with a variety of other species, including sargo, calico bass, sheepshead and rockfish.

Don't miss the free 976-TUNA seminar at 7 p.m. at the Hooters of Anaheim on Thursday. Just show up to learn how you can catch more and bigger tuna this year.
