Weapons Seized from a Local Firearms Dealer

A Gardena resident was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of illegally selling firearms from his home, police said.

George Cronin, 62, a licensed firearms dealer, was taken into custody for allegedly selling firearms to undercover detectives from the Redondo Beach Police Department Special Investigations Unit.

The police department initiated the investigation in late 2009 when they learned Cronin was selling firearms without completing the required state and federal documentation. Undercover detectives purchased numerous firearms from Cronin without completing any documentation or waiting the required 10-day waiting period.  

Redondo Beach Police detectives and agents from the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms searched Cronin's home and seized 82 firearms Tuesday morning. Among the items seized were shotguns, handguns, rifles, an unregistered assault rifle and silencers. 

Cronin is being held at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lennox Station jail on weapons charges. His bail is set at $ 10,000.  He is expected to appear in Torrance court on May 13.
