Week in Review: Father’s Day, Kevin Ellison and RUHS Graduation

SUNDAY

MONDAY

The San Diego Chargers released RUHS alumnus Kevin Ellison, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing 100 Vicodin pills in Redondo Beach in May.

Sea Hawks Chloe Curtis, state champion in the 1,600 meters, finished 11^th at the Nike Meet in North Carolina.

Columnist Harry Munns talked about how cities like Redondo Beach struggle to pay retired public employees' benefits in the recent tough economy.

TUESDAY

Shop Redondo featured Aaardvark, a vintage clothing store.

Recently moved from Dallas, Texas, Pam and Randy Noblitt said Redondo Beach "looks really, really good to us."

Redondo Beach mom Michelle Borden talked about going to a local farmers market with her baby boy, Smith.

WEDNESDAY

The City Council adopted the 2010-2011 budget while the police officers union failed to reach concession agreements before the deadline.

Residents gathered to raise money and awareness for local art scenes.

The Seattle Seahawks picked up Kevin Ellison one day after the Chargers dropped him.

We posted the first installation of a South Bay surfing enthusiasts profile.

THURSDAY

Teachers and parents made emotional pleas against the recent termination of 16 local elementary school teachers at the school district meeting.

The Yankees won the Redondo Sunset Pony League championship.

FRIDAY

Redondo Union High School held its graduation ceremony on Thursday night. Congrats grads!

We also posted the first installation of an RUHS senior profile series, "Meet RUHS Class of 2010."

Parathlete and Redondo Beach resident Kristina Ripatti finished the cross-country cycling relay to raise money for an inner-city youth program.

SATURDAY
