3 Suffer Major Injuries in Crash After Tesla Driver Passes Out
BREAKING: The man's son was in the back and reached over to try to steer, but car flew off HIghway 237 off-ramp.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – Three Fremont residents suffered major injuries when the driver of a car passed out and the car crashed Saturday morning in San Jose, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m. at state Highway 237 and Zanker Road.
A man, his wife and son were in a 2016 Tesla on Highway 237 when the man started passing out as he was driving and lost control of the car, CHP officials said.

The son was in the back seat and reached over and grabbed the steering wheel. But his father's foot stayed on the gas.
As the car was going more than 80 mph, the son veered onto the Zanker Road off-ramp, according to CHP officials.

The son was unable to negotiate a curve and the Tesla went off the left side of the road and airborne.
The vehicle landed, went airborne again until it came to rest in a field, CHP officials said.
The man suffered a broken back. His wife suffered a broken wrist and right ankle. The son suffered a broken left arm and pelvis, according to CHP officials.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
