REDWOOD CITY, CA — Firefighters were called to the scene to save a baby deer trapped in a picket fence Sunday in Redwood City.
The mother deer, and the rest of their deer family, watched and waited as a crew from the Redwood City Fire Department arrived on Sunday to free the deer from the fence.
"It’s not everyday we get to rescue a deer, but today we did," RCFD stated. "Engine 16 responded for reports of a deer stuck in the fence. When they arrived, Engine 16 found a fawn stuck between two fence boards."
The video shows a firefighter was able to go behind the deer and wedge a crowbar into one of the boards on the fence to loosen enough for the baby deer to free itself and return to it awaiting family.
"With a little finesse and minimal damage to the fence, crews were able to rescue the fawn and reunite it with its family," RCFD stated.
