REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man was arrested Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 72-year-old woman four days earlier, police said.
Francisco Gallardo-Alvarez, 52, turned himself into the Redwood City Police Department Thursday and was booked into San Mateo County's Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, police said.
The crash occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Beech Street, where officers found the victim unresponsive near the roadway. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators said they located surveillance footage the following day that captured the collision and determined the suspect vehicle was a late-model white Toyota Tundra. Detectives tracked down the vehicle at Gallardo-Alvarez's Redwood City residence on Monday and had it towed as evidence.
This remains an active investigation.
