Suspect In Fatal Hit-And-Run That Killed 72-Year-Old Pedestrian Arrested In SMC: Police (patch.com) — Redwood City residents are learning more about a deadly hit-and-run that killed a 72-year-old woman at Middlefield Road and Beech Street, after a local man turned himself in to police. Investigators say surveillance video led them to a white Toyota Tundra at the suspect’s Redwood City home, and they’re asking anyone with information to contact the police department’s nonemergency line.    

2. Former Charter School Educator, Coach Convicted Of Sex Crimes Against Two Student In SMC: DA (patch.com) — Families in the Redwood City area are hearing that a former educator and soccer coach at the now-closed Summit Everest charter high school in nearby North Fair Oaks has pleaded no contest to multiple child sex crime charges. Prosecutors say the case involves two former students and believe there may be additional victims, urging anyone with information to contact San Mateo County investigators.    

3. Longtime Housing Commissioners Honored For Tenant Protection Work In Redwood City (patch.com) — Redwood City’s council has formally honored two longtime Housing and Human Concerns Committee leaders whose volunteer work helped shape the city’s tenant protections and anti-displacement strategy. Alma Montalvo and Kate Adams Hiester were praised for guiding policies like the tenant protection ordinance and RV safe parking program, which city leaders say strengthened housing stability and equity for local residents.    

4. Norovirus Is Hitting A Popular CA Attraction Hard As Cases Rise Across U.S. (patch.com subscription) — Redwood City’s wastewater treatment plant is among several in California still detecting high levels of norovirus this month, signaling the stomach bug is actively circulating locally. Health officials say cases are rising statewide and urge thorough handwashing, avoiding food prep when sick, and extra caution for young children, older adults, and people with health conditions.
