WOODSIDE, CA — A bicyclist was killed Saturday when a Porsche crossed into the opposing lane on Skyline Boulevard and struck him head-on, the California Highway Patrol said.
The San Mateo County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Jakub Solovsky, 34, of East Palo Alto.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on State Route 35, also known as Skyline Boulevard.
Investigators said the Porsche was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, crossed into the southbound lane and struck an oncoming bicyclist.
The cyclist died at the scene.
The Porsche driver, who was the vehicle's only occupant, was not injured, CHP said.
Investigators said drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
The collision remains under investigation.
