1. Man Under The Influence Tased At SMC High School: Police (patch.com) โ€” Parents and students in Redwood City may be alarmed after police say a 38-year-old local man, allegedly under the influence and carrying a metal file, entered Sequoia High School without authorization. A school liaison officer and backup officers used a Taser when he reportedly became confrontational, then arrested him on several charges as they emphasized ongoing efforts to keep campuses safe.

2. Partial verdict for San Mateo couple accused of trafficking Chinese nanny (mercurynews.com) โ€” In a Redwood City courtroom, jurors reached a partial verdict for a San Mateo couple accused of abusing and underpaying their Chinese nanny, convicting the husband of felony assault and criminal threats but deadlocking on human trafficking charges. The judge declared a mistrial on those counts, and prosecutors will decide by Oct. 16 whether to retry the case while the husband remains jailed without bail.

3. Will the Bay Area warm up for Labor Day? Here's the holiday weekend forecast (sfchronicle.com) โ€” Redwood City residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds this Labor Day weekend, with upper-60s to low-70s Friday and gradual warming that could approach 80 degrees by Monday. While inland hiking weather looks pleasant, forecasters warn that dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves will make ocean swimming along the coast risky despite the nicer skies.
