REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police searched for hours after reports that a young child may have been involved in a rollover crash near Highway 101 and Woodside Road, but investigators later determined there was no evidence that a child was involved.
The crash happened around 10:38 p.m. Sunday on northbound Highway 101 near the Woodside Road overpass, according to Redwood City police.
Initial reports indicated a 4-year-old child may have been involved in the crash. A later witness report described a 4- to 5-year-old girl with blonde or brown hair and a pink jacket who was reportedly bleeding from the head.
Redwood City police assisted the California Highway Patrol with an extensive search of the area. Officers initially were unable to locate the child.

After the search, police said no juvenile matching the description was found and there was no evidence that a child had been involved in the collision.
"There is currently no evidence that a child was involved," police said in an update.
Police said there is no ongoing concern regarding a missing child connected to the crash.
The driver reportedly fled the scene on foot, according to the initial alert. Police directed questions about the collision to the Redwood City CHP office.
