SAN CARLOS, CA — A 52-year-old San Carlos man was arrested after San Mateo County sheriff's detectives found three unregistered firearms, gun parts and suspected fentanyl at his home, authorities said Thursday.
Police said they arrested Joshua A. Harris, was taken arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on Oct. 23.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Office Crime Suppression Unit served a search warrant at a home on the 1700 block of Alameda de las Pulgas following an investigation that began with an unrelated case, officials said.
The search uncovered about 12 grams of suspected fentanyl, three unregistered and unserialized firearms, including an AR-15, numerous gun parts and materials used to package drugs, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators said they believe Harris was manufacturing firearms at the home. He was not legally registered as the owner of any firearms, authorities said.
Harris faces charges including transporting or selling controlled substances, possessing a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, illegally possessing an assault weapon, possessing a firearm without a serial number and manufacturing a destructive device without a permit, police said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 650-363-4911. Anonymous tips can be submitted at 800-547-2700.
