Book Drive Impact still being felt in the Community
Book drive contributions are still making their way into the hands of local organizations committed to increasing child literacy rates.

A simple book drive that began over 3 years ago has grown to donations of over 30,000 thanks to the generosity of our community. What most people don't see, however, is the impact these books have to local children. Ryan Traynor and the Redwood City Youth Literacy Council take community donations and provide needed books to important organizations working with children to help them read. Just today they delivered 8 boxes filled to the brim with books to the Familias Unidas program, who is graduating another large group of families in the area. Their nine-week evening workshop called Families United through Literacy and Learning (Familias Unidas) teaches parents how to foster, get involved with and be a part of their child’s academic success. This just shows how, working together, we can make an impact on our community just by putting books into the hands of those who need them.
