DID YOU KNOW that the City of Redwood City has given contradictory reports regarding how much it spent on the Downtown Precise Plan?

Did you know that back in March of 2011 the City reported to Patch that they had spent a total of $250,000 on consulting fees for the Downtown Precise Plan  ( http://redwoodcity-woodside.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/downtown-precise-plan-steers-clear-of-environmental-lawsuits ); however just last week there was a letter to the Editor from someone in the City claiming that the amount was approximately two million dollars  ( http://redwoodcity-woodside.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/letter-to-the-editor-city-responds-to-inner-harbor-plan-blog ).   Given the unsigned nature of this letter to the editor, it is hard to know if this came from our new Mayor Mr. Jeff Gee, City Manager Mr. Bob Bell or someone else in the organization.

Because of the conflicting information provided by the City to Patch, I have put in a Public Records Act request from the City Clerk.   It is reasonable to believe that the books for 2011 have been closed and so this will not be a case of reclassifying expenses from one account to another.   Generally Public Records Act requests take ten days to be processed.  As soon as I get the information from the City Clerk I will update this post with the information received.

Is 1.75 million dollars really missing?  Or is someone just very confused?

UPDATE DECEMBER 30, 2013

The City Clerk has advised me that "because your request involves search for, collect, and appropriately examine a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records, the City will need up to an additional fourteen days from December 30, 2013 until January 13, 2014 to respond to your request (Gov't Code Section 6253(c)(2))."
