Peninsula Bike Party Global Warming Ride

Scientists have calculated that Global Warming could raise the level of San Francisco Bay by up to 6 feet by the year 2100, which would flood the Peninsula all the way to El Camino Real in most places during a major flood. San Francisco International Airport, Foster City, and Redwood Shores would all be completely underwater, as would downtown Redwood City.

What to do? Counteract Global Warming with your Global Cooling Machine - your bicycle! Riding a bike reduces Global Warming for many reasons, including reduced transportation emissions, fewer production emissions, reduced need for metals, and fewer paved surfaces.

On Friday, August 24, Peninsula Bike Party will start at (someday underwater) Courthouse Square in downtown Redwood City, where the pop/soul band Pride & Joy will entertain us with live music!

From there, we'll ride out to the rising waters of San Francisco Bay, and then Head For The Hills! On the way up we'll visit the Red Morton Community Park Skate Park, and from above Alameda de las Pulgas we'll gaze out below at our beloved and doomed San Francisco Peninsula.
