Fish & Richardson Names Three New Principals in Silicon Valley

Fish names Neil Warren principal in the firm's Litigation Group and Michael Portnov and Michael Shepherd principals in the Patent Group

Fish & Richardson has named Neil Warren as a principal in the firm’s Litigation Group and Michael Portnov and Michael Shepherd as principals in the Patent Group in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, located in Redwood City. Overall, 21 attorneys were elevated to principal across the firm’s 12 offices, effective January 1, 2018.

Portnov focuses his practice on client counseling and preparing and prosecuting patent applications directed to computer-related technologies. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2009 and his B.A. in mathematics, with a minor in physics, from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006.

Shepherd focuses his practice on client counseling and patent prosecution in the areas of software and other computer-related technologies. He received his J.D., cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2009, and computer science degrees from Syracuse University (M.S., 2005) and University of Notre Dame (B.S., cum laude, 2002).

Warren focuses his practice on both federal district court litigation and practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board with client technologies relating to semiconductors, integrated circuits, medical devices, and computer software. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2010 and his B.S., with honors, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007.
