ANYTHING GOES tells a fun and sparkling “falling in love” story, with wild antics, clever plot twists, toe-tapping music, and sweeping production numbers. Broadway at its best!
The story takes place on an ocean liner sailing to London from New York in the early 1930’s. A flashy nightclub singer helps her pal stow away to follow his love interest (a wealthy ingénue). Romantic challenges ensue, along with crazy shenanigans set off by a surprise gangster on board. This rollicking tale bubbles over with elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors, and good old-fashioned blackmail, all in pursuit of love and set to a stirring Cole Porter soundtrack.

Woodside High School Producer Karen Petersen says of ANYTHING GOES: “This show is sure to become a classic in Woodside High School’s long line of spectacular musicals. With a cast of 50, our stage will be transformed to a bustling ship deck from the vintage 1930’s, with larger-than-life personalities, dazzling costumes, soaring music from our full orchestra, and blow-your-socks-off dance numbers. Guaranteed to leave our audience happy, thrilled, and impressed.” Given the show’s family friendly content, Petersen adds “Bring the kids and grandparents to enjoy all these Cole Porter tunes: “You’re the Top!”, “It’s De-Lovely”, “I Get a Kick Out of You”, and the title song “Anything Goes!”.”
With its premier production in 1934, ANYTHING GOES has long been one of America’s most beloved musical comedies (music and lyrics by Cole Porter, with the first script by Guy Bolton & P.G. Wodehouse, revised by Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse). An instant hit, this romantic comedy has delighted audiences for 83 years, inspiring 3 stage revivals, 2 movie versions, and winning multiple Tony awards.
