Inmate Dies At Maguire Correctional Facility

REDWOOD CITY, CA — An inmate died Tuesday afternoon at Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City Tuesday afternoon, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said.

The inmate was discovered during a security check about 4 p.m. and was given medical treatment, including CPR, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the death appears to be natural causes.

The Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

The San Mateo County Coroner's Office will identify the inmate after the family has been notified.
