Orlando Cepeda Named Pumpkin Festival Parade Grand Marshal

Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Fest Kicks Off Oct. 18

Major League Baseball Hall-Of-Famer and legendary San Francisco Giants first baseman Orlando Cepeda will serve as honorary Grand Marshal of the world-famous Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival Parade, Saturday, October 18 at 12 noon.

“Orlando Cepeda is one of the greatest players in San Francisco Giants history and we cherish our deep and time-honored connection to legends of the Black and Orange,” said Cameron Palmer, Chairman of the festival committee. “Many of us have indelible memories of Orlando’s many accomplishments and he was a absolute force throughout his long and exceptional career. We’re delighted and thrilled he has accepted our invitation to serve as parade Grand Marshal this year.”

A powerful first baseman and prolific run producer for 14 major league seasons, Cepeda, known as “Baby Bull” and “Cha-Cha”, was respected and feared throughout the league. An 11-time all-star, he was 1958 N.L Rookie of the Year, 1967 N.L MVP, and a three-time World Series Champion.

The 44th Annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival runs October 18-19, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main St. between Mill and Spruce Streets in Half Moon Bay. Admission is free.
