Pee Wee 49ers Fall in National Championship
The team competed in the 55th annual Pop Warner Super Bowl Saturday for the national championship.
After a plane ride all the way to Florida, the Redwood City 49ers fought hard, but lost 22-0 to the Stanley Blue Devils of North Carolina in the first round of Division II Jr. Pee Wee competition.
The 49ers had an undefeated football season to become the Peninsula Conference champs. They of Vancouver, Washington, 30-0 on Nov. 26 to earn a spot in the National Championship.
The 49ers were just one of only 64 teams to qualify for the national championships.
