Prodigy is the second book in the post-apocalypic world of Legend, which is loosely based on Les Miserables. June and Day head to Las Vegas to get some help from the Patriots, and in order to do so, have to assasinate the new Elector of the Republic. Day gets surgery for his wounded leg, and some help with finding his brother when they say yes to do the assasination. As the book goes on, we find out that the new Elector isn’t as bad as we origanally thought he was.
The book, like the first one in the series, is well written and ends in a cliffhanger. I cried, laughed, and shook my fist a lot during the time I was reading this book. Prodigy is one of those books that you have to read in one sitting, and don’t ever want to put it down if you don’t have to. The characters are well written and a three dimensional, well rounded characters that will make you cry. The descriptions are very well done, and you are able to see everything in your mind’s eye. However, the characters seem to move around in their mind a lot more than what seems to be normal, and June and Day always are able to get out of a situation. There is always one character, at least, that will help them. Lu also keeps a huge amount of sexual tension between June and Day. I would have liked it better if there was a little bit more writing about the relationship between June and Day, like how they see each other after they have put their life on the line for each other. I would also like to see the relationship between Tess and Day, more like the history of their relationship between them and what has made Tess love Day more than a family member.
Overall a good book, and a series that I am going to keep on reading, there are some things that Lu could have put in that would have made the book much better. I will be very happy when the next book comes out, as it may put down in writing more relationship stuff.
