Redwood City Lights Up For Two-Year Mark Of Pandemic: Photos

Several buildings, including Courthouse Square, marked the two-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic by lighting in blue.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Several buildings in downtown Redwood City lit up in blue last Friday in honor of the two-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The idea was coordinated by Stacey Wagner, the director of public affairs for Kaiser Permanente's Redwood City Medical Center, along with Redwood City Library Director Derek Wolfgram and Health and Sequoia Hospital Health and Wellness Director Marie Violet.

Wagner said to Patch that she asked the city to issue a proclamation and received support from Mayor Giselle Hale.

"Working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been a very challenging time for health care and frontline workers, and we wanted to find a way to let them know they are appreciated, and how grateful we are for their tireless efforts," Wagner said. "I'm hopeful that residents and businesses in Redwood City and beyond will show their support by turning on blue lights and/or wearing blue on March 11."
