Redwood City Ranked Among Best Places To Live

Five cities on the San Francisco Peninsula have been ranked among the best places to live in the country. Do you agree?

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – Three cities in San Mateo County and two in nearby Santa Clara County have been ranked among the best places to live in the country.

Palo Alto, San Mateo, Redwood City, Burlingame and Mountain View were all named among the Best Places to Live in 2018, according to Livability.com. The online community research publication ranked Palo Alto 6th, San Mateo 29th, Redwood City 65th, Burlingame 70th and Mountain View 85th among 100 cities across the country. Ann Arbor, Michigan, took the top spot.

Palo Alto scored so high on the list thanks to several things: "Mild weather, a thriving economy, great cultural amenities and a diverse natural environment... and not one but two downtowns with dense housing for a suburb."

San Mateo was recognized for how well it reflects the economic strength of Silicon Valley. Redwood City's great education rankings helped score it a spot on this list.

As for Burlingame, the list pointed out that the "bustling downtown area is growing, giving residents a wide variety of shops and boutiques normally found in larger cities without sacrificing the small-town feel." Mountain View was recognized for its healthcare options and pedestrian-friendly downtown district.
