Redwood Officials Locate Missing 11-Year-Old Girl

Emely Ugalde Miramontes, 11, who went missing on Friday, safely returned home Sunday, officials said.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — An 11-year-old girl who went missing Friday evening in Redwood City has returned home and is safe, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office tweeted Sunday.

"Thank you so much to everyone who helped by sharing this post," officials wrote on Twitter. "We are incredibly grateful for such a supportive community who really pulls together in times like these."

Officials were still searching for 11-year-old Emely Ugalde Miramontes earlier on Sunday.

"Emely is still missing," deputies tweeted earlier Sunday. "We are concerned about her safety [and] wellbeing. She is not in trouble [and] we just need to make sure she is safe!"

Deputies worked in partnership with the Redwood City Police Department to find her.
