SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Scott Peterson could be sent to a San Mateo County jail soon, KSRO reports.
A San Mateo County Superior Court judge who is considering whether the convicted killer should get a new trial may also order Peterson's transfer to a Peninsula jail, the report said.

The California Supreme Court last month ordered a review of Scott Peterson's murder 2004 conviction by a San Mateo County jury for the killing of his 27-year-old wife, Laci, who was eight-months pregnant with their unborn son, Connor, The Los Angeles Times reports.
The court cited as the basis for its decision to review the case a juror's failure to disclose fearing for the life of her unborn child while being harassed by her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend, the report said.

That ruling followed a Supreme Court decision in August to overturn Peterson’s death sentence citing judicial error in the penalty phase of the trial.
The Supreme Court in a statement said Judge Alfred Delucchi, an Alameda County Superior Court judge who'd been assigned to the case, "made a series of clear and significant errors in jury selection that, under long-standing United States Supreme Court precedent, undermined Peterson's right to an impartial jury at the penalty phase."
Depending on the Superior Court judge’s decision, the penalty phase of Peterson’s trial or the entire trial could go before another San Mateo County jury, the KSRO report said.
The judge granted prosecutors’ request for an extension to file paperwork on whether Peterson should get a new trial and has scheduled a status hearing for Jan. 21, the report said.
Peterson’s attorneys indicated it may be more difficult to consult with their client at a jail facility according to the report.
