Sequoia Boys Tennis Trounces Oceana

The team opened its season with a victory Tuesday.

The Sequoia boys' tennis team opened its season with a 5-2 victory over host Oceana in a Peninsula Athletic League match Tuesday.

At No. 2 singles, Sequoia's David Burtt defeated Steven Tran in a super tiebreaker 4-6, 6-4 (10-8). No. 3 singles Daniel Jude defeated Oceana's Richard Van 6-2, 6-3 and the Cherokees' Matt Lefkovitz downed Alan Vasilkovsky 7-5, 6-1 in fourth singles. Oceana's Jason Van defeated Sequoia's Jon Saltzman 6-2, 6-3 at No.1 singles.

In doubles, Oceana's top-seeded team of Dan Recinto and Dante Fernandez defeated Logan Billman and Cameron Satterlee 6-4, 6-4. Sequoia wrapped up the final two doubles in straight sets with the No.2 doubles team of Zach Sahn and Santi Ortega downed Jeremy Fentalor and Anthony Perez  6-0, 6-1. Alex Schreiber and Connor Carroll teamed for a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jason Keough and Kevin Li.
