Sequoia Hospital Again Receives an ‘A’ for Patient Safety

From Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital: Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital was one of only 750 hospitals nationwide awarded an ‘A’ from Leapfrog Group for its efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.Sequoia Hospital has received four consecutive ‘A’ grades.

The Leapfrog Group is a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harm among patients in their care.

“The staff and physicians at Sequoia Hospital are dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety,” said Sequoia Hospital President Bill Graham. “Our patients, and our community, deserve the highest quality medical care, and we are proud to provide that at Sequoia.”

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

This recognition is the latest of several Sequoia Hospital has received recently for patient safety and quality care. Sequoia received a 5-star rating, the highest possible, for the quality of its care from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and also received Health grades awards for Patient Safety Excellence and Outstanding Patient Experience in 2017.
