SMC Seeks Public Input For Proposed Busway, Recreation Path On Former Freight Line
Teams of SamTrans workers will be out in the community through Oct. 30 soliciting feedback for the first phase.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — The San Mateo County Transit District is seeking public input through October on a planned project to construct a busway and recreation path between Redwood City and East Palo Alto.
The "Reimagine Dumbarton" project will involve two phases of feedback, including one on overall design and another on amenities such as miniparks and playgrounds.
Teams of SamTrans workers will be out in the community through Oct. 30 soliciting feedback for the first phase.

The project would involve constructing a paved walking and bicycle path and busway for zero-emissions buses on a five-mile stretch of former freight line between the two cities, according to a statement from SamTrans.

The current proposal involves connecting the Redwood City Transit Center and Caltrain.
It also proposes new pedestrian and bicycle crossings, bus stations, landscaping and recreation and gathering spaces, according to SamTrans.
A feasibility study is scheduled to be concluded in the spring once the design for the project and alternatives are finalized.
