Three Dead As Plane Headed for Peninsula Airport Crashes
Airport officials report three fatalities in a small plane crash. The victims were headed for San Carlos, officials said. [BREAKING]

Three people who were en route to San Carlos are confirmed dead following a plane crash over the weekend at Reno-Tahoe International Airport, airport officials report.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. Sunday when a Piper Cherokee single-engine aircraft took off, according to a Facebook post by the airport.
"Some type of issue occurred shortly there after and the aircraft crashed into the surface parking lot," airport officials said Sunday night. "Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration are on scene and an active investigation is underway."

National Transportation Safety Board officials were expected to investigate the crash Monday, according to airport officials.
Though officials said that the aircraft was headed for San Carlos Airport, no other information about the case or the victims on board was immediately available Monday.
