Train Slams Into Vehicle on Tracks in Redwood City

Roughly 1,050 passengers detrained at the Redwood City Station Wednesday evening.

Redwood City, CA— No injuries were reported when a commuter train carrying more than 1,000 passengers struck a vehicle on the tracks in Redwood City, according to the San Mateo County Transit District.

Northbound train No. 269 struck a vehicle at the Whipple Avenue crossing at 5:31 p.m., SamTrans said in a statement about the incident.

Roughly 1,050 passengers detrained at the Redwood City Station, and no injuries were reported.

All trains were moving again by 6:38 p.m., but the incident led to delays of up to 30 minutes for CalTrain commuters.
