11 Arrested in Trump Protest That Disrupted Caltrain [UPDATE]

Eleven people were arrested on the Caltrain tracks this morning following several protests regarding the inauguration of President Donald Trump, according to Caltrain spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew.

Bartholomew said the transit service became aware of protesters standing on the tracks on 16th street near Mississippi Street at 8:39 a.m. and immediately halted service.
In photos posted to Twitter and other social media sites, protestors can be seen linking arms with PVC-pipe that has the word "RESIST" spray-painted on the pipes.

Bartholomew said normal service resumed at 11:30 a.m. after police cleared the tracks and that BART, SamTrans and Muni will continue to provide mutual aid for a short time.
The transit service said while they respect people's right to peacefully protest, they want to stress that blocking the tracks is not only illegal but also very dangerous for both the trespassers and riders on the
trains.
No plans have been made yet regarding service for the potential protests tomorrow during the Women's March around the Bay Area, according to Bartholomew.

Caltrain is experiencing severe delays around the Bay Area this morning due to the ongoing protests of President Donald Trump's inauguration, according to spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew.
Bartholomew said activists are currently blocking tracks at 16th and Mississippi streets and service has been halted.
In photos posted to Twitter and other social media sites, protestors can be seen linking arms with PVC-pipe that has the word "RESIST" spray-painted on the pipes.
According to Bartholomew, transit police and officers from the San Francisco Police Department are on site monitoring the situation allowing the activists to remain on the tracks.
Bartholomew said there is currently no plan of action on removing the activists.
Mutual aid is being provided by BART, SamTrans and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, according to Caltrain officials.

Meanwhile, arrests are underway at the Uber headquarters in San Francisco where eight protesters chained themselves to the front door this morning in opposition to the inauguration of President Trump.
Eight protesters chained themselves to the front door of the building on Market Street between 11th Street and Van Ness Avenue in protest of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, who has served as an advisor to Trump.
A group of about 40-50 protesters also gathered there, blocking Market Street and holding a sign that said, "Uber collaborates with Trump."
As of about 10:15 a.m., police were removing the protesters from the doors and arresting them.
The protesters arrived at Uber headquarters at about 7 a.m. Uber employees have been entering the building through a back door on Mission Street.
In a statement, Uber said, "As a company we're committed to working with government on issues that affect riders, drivers and the cities where we operate. Just as we worked with the Obama Administration, we'll work
with the Trump Administration, too."
Elsewhere in San Francisco, a rally and march was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Justin Herman Plaza.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation agency is advising passengers this morning of disruptions due the ongoing protests of Donald Trump's inauguration.
At about 8:40 a.m., SFMTA reported that the F Market line is turning around at the San Francisco Ferry Building because protesters are blocking the route. The 6, 7 and 9 lines are also re-routing to Mission Street.
