• Richmond Police: Suspect Fired More Than 30 Rounds From Rifle in Attempted Murder of Officer (contracosta.news) — A Richmond police officer is recovering after being shot during a mental health check call on Key Boulevard, where a suspect allegedly fired more than 30 rifle rounds, striking homes and a patrol car. SWAT teams, armored vehicles, and multiple nearby agencies helped evacuate neighbors, negotiate with the barricaded suspect, and ultimately arrest a Richmond resident now facing attempted murder and related charges.
   

• Court-appointed former school superintendent to ensure WCCUSD hires qualified teachers (richmondside.org) — Families in Richmond's West Contra Costa schools will soon see closer oversight of teacher hiring, after a court-appointed monitor was assigned to ensure every classroom has a properly credentialed teacher. The order focuses on filling vacancies at Stege Elementary, Helms Middle, and Kennedy High, and follows progress that cut districtwide vacancies from over 70 last year to 34 this fall.
