The Alameda County coroner’s bureau confirmed that the pedestrian who died after being hit near the hospital, which is located at 747 52nd St. in Oakland, at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday was 66-year-old Patricia Alvarez of El Sobrante.

Shibata said, “’Patty,’ as she was known to friends and co-workers, was a registered nurse in our emergency department and our pediatric unit at Summit Medical Center.” Shibata said, “She had been with the hospital since 1979. She touched many lives here at Children’s, both patients and colleagues.” Shibata added, “Patty was a mentor and leader to many during her career at the hospital. Our flag is flying at half-staff in her memory and we are extending support and care to her family and our staff during this tragic time.”
Oakland police didn’t respond to a request for information about the collision that claimed Alvarez’s life.
